Holland Park Station upgrade

Introduction

Make an Enquiry

Holland Park station in London is on London Underground’s Central Line.  Opened in 1900, its distinctive yellow stonework and elegant curves is typical of the local architecture.  When an extensive refurbishment to this classic building was required, Emico was chosen by London Underground as the electrical contractor responsible for installing temporary electric power, lighting and distribution boards, pan assemblies, all cabling and energy efficient lighting.  In order to facilitate an upgrade of the station lifts, Holland Park was closed to the public for a period of six months.

Development

A full station closure provided a unique opportunity for Emico to demonstrate its flexibility in working around the clock and its ability to collaborate with multiple other contractors.  Emico worked both on day and night shifts, with the night shift allowing up to 8 hours work between 10pm and 6am.

Delivery

Normal night time working would allow three hours work per shift.  Typical electrical works on a station would require up to two years, but the ability to double shift enabled us to complete the works within the six month programme period.

‘Well done to your day and night crews on getting 5 Green NOWRIs, it was a great achievement. I know the CMS NOWRI were particularly tough. I hoped my pre inspection helped you. Please pass on my appreciation of their efforts’. Marc Burrett Construction Manager
