We have recently completed the successful refurbishment of Holland Park station for London Underground. Emico delivered the complete electrical installation upgrade of this station during a six-month full closure. By working extended engineering hour shifts as well as day time hours we were able to deliver this project significantly in advance of programme completion. The upgrade included complete replacement of all electrical items, conversion of the ticket office and removal of the SOR which created a larger, brighter ticket hall in line with London Undergrounds Fit for the Future programme. At Neasden, we delivered a new DC traction power supply configuration, and modified and reinforced the existing DC traction power system within the depot. Working on an operational railway is a specialised task, and when timescales are tight and safety is paramount, a skilled, experienced team is required. London Underground trusted Emico to deliver, and we did just that; on budget, and with time to spare. For Crossrail, we are working on a multi-site project combined with working on live operational infrastructure and limited access to the track presents many issues to overcome. When combined with working with the public on operational stations, this becomes a major challenge. Emico has provided design solutions which are buildable which in a live station environment is a key issue – maintaining operation of the station and the safety of the travelling public whilst ensuring new systems are implemented. The work includes upgrading DNO supplies, installing platform and building LED lighting, integrating the fire alarm systems and most importantly for the rail travellers providing new customer information systems.
